Day 04 - A song that makes you sad

Don’t get me wrong; I by no means dislike this song. In fact I think it is quite beautiful; the raw raspy voice, the lyrics, and I’m always a fan of a good guitar solo.

However, it reminds me of leaving and sadness and friendships lost.

I had a boyfriend once who started to love this band. And like with any relationship I picked up a few habits that just absorbed into my person.

I think relationships are beautiful like that. You come in just you; but somewhere it becomes them and you. Fighting the good fight.

So I have a love for Eminem that I did not discover on my own, I listen to Painting Flowers at least three times a week, I love The Spill Canvas, The Rocket Summer, and Bruno Mars. And Hurt. I love this band.

So one of my ex-boyfriends played this song the day he drove away from my house to go off to college. And though I suppose I didn’t want to admit it at the time I knew we were never going to make it while the lyrics said don’t you let go of me.

Such a hard time.

Wanting different things in life is not a bad thing, or a wrong thing. But I still wish I could tell the high school me that.

I’m glad that everything in that situation worked out for the best. But the song still holds the sad spot for today.

Still, it is beautiful.
